“My name is Nicole Asinugo and I’m a Nigerian. My Africa Is my everything; It is my home, my playground and my runway.
I’m a freelance and web content writer. I currently live and work in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital territory but I am originally from Imo State, which is in the Eastern part of Nigeria. This photo was taken during Christmas of 2012 in my village, which is called Amauzari, located in the local government area of Mbano.
Bicycles are still a popular means of transportation in my village and it is common to see people riding their bicycles on their way to work, or to buy goods from the market. I borrowed this bicycle from a neighbour of mine and rode around the village with my cousin for hours. It was a truly beautiful experience; riding around the forests, through hidden paths and just for a moment, being away from the modern world and taking in the serene environment and the nature all around me. My name is Nicole Asinugo and I’m a Nigerian. ”

In response to scarcity of electricity in Northern Nigeria, one man created a device similar to a refrigerator using two pots. Here’s how it works: You take a smaller pot and put it inside a larger pot. Fill the space in between them with wet sand, and cover the top with a wet cloth. As the water evaporates from the sand, it pulls the heat out with it, cooling the inner pot. It’s a natural, cheap, easy-to-make refrigerator. The invention keeps food from perishing for up to three weeks. For more,
